A new website for VIBE, the independent book and music shop by the ferry in Mui Wo, Lantau Island, replacing its old Wix site with something as characterful as the shop itself.

Moving Off Wix
VIBE had years of content on an old Wix site. Every page was exported and normalised, and around 580 MB of original images were downloaded and optimised, so nothing was lost in the move, including the shop's 2018 newsletters.
A Shop With Personality
The new site is built with Next.js, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS, and every route prerenders as static HTML for speed. The hero features a three.js turntable with a record you can scratch, and a record crate to flick through. All the copy lives in plain, type-checked TypeScript, so updating the opening hours or catalogue is quick and safe.
