Welcome to TECSmith. This Cookie Policy explains how I use cookies and similar technologies to recognise you when you visit my website (https://www.tecsmith.info) and use any of my related software applications or mobile apps (collectively, the "Applications"). It explains what these technologies are and why I use them, as well as your rights to control my use of them.

3. Why Do I Use Cookies?

I use first-party and third-party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for my Applications to operate, and I refer to these as "essential" or "strictly necessary" cookies. Other cookies also enable me to track and target the interests of my users to enhance the experience. Third parties serve cookies through my Applications for analytics, functionality, and other operational purposes.

I group cookies into two categories. Optional cookies are never set unless you switch them on.

Strictly necessary (always on)

These are required for the site to work and cannot be switched off. They are exempt from consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

Analytics & third-party measurement (optional)

With your consent, I use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful and how visitors find the site. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4, and advertising features, Google Signals, and ad personalisation are disabled. The Google Analytics script is not loaded at all unless you opt in.

When you make a choice, I keep an anonymous record of it (a random identifier, your choice, the policy version, and the time) so that I can demonstrate consent as required by UK GDPR. This record does not include your IP address or any information that identifies you.

5. How Can You Control Cookies?

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the button below or the "Cookie Settings" link in the site footer. Withdrawing consent stops analytics immediately and removes the analytics cookies from your browser. You can also set your device/browser controls to accept or refuse cookies.

If you choose to reject cookies, you may still use my Applications though your access to some functionality and areas may be restricted. Please note that essential cookies cannot be rejected as they are strictly necessary to provide you with services.
