1. Introduction & Scope

Welcome to TECSmith. I am committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

This Privacy Policy applies to my website (https://www.tecsmith.info) and all related software applications, mobile apps, and web services created by me, Thomas EC. Smith (collectively, the "Applications"). By using my Applications, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information I Collect

To provide and improve my Applications, I may collect the following types of information:

  • Personal Data: Information you voluntarily provide (e.g., email address, name) when creating an account or contacting me.
  • Usage Data: Diagnostic data and interactions collected when using my Applications to help me improve performance and user experience. On this website, analytics (Google Analytics) are collected only after you opt in, and you can withdraw consent at any time via Cookie Settings.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers to ensure app compatibility and troubleshoot issues.
  • Advertising, Crash Reporting & Game Services: Some of my mobile apps use third-party services for optional in-app advertising, crash reporting, and game sign-in. These services may collect device identifiers, advertising data, product interaction data, and crash diagnostics. Which apps use which services, and what each collects, is set out in Section 7.
  • Cookies and Tracking Technologies: I use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity and store certain information. For more detailed information, please read my Cookie Policy.

3. How I Use Your Information

I process your personal information for legitimate business purposes, including:

  • Providing, maintaining, and improving my Applications.
  • Managing user accounts and providing customer support.
  • Diagnosing and fixing crashes and performance problems in my apps.
  • Showing optional ads in apps that offer them, which helps keep those apps free.
  • Fulfilling legal obligations and enforcing my Terms and Conditions.

I do not sell your personal data to third parties. Where an app shows ads, the ad provider collects and uses data under its own privacy policy, as described in Section 7.

4. Data Deletion Policy

You have the absolute right to request the deletion of your personal data. I provide straightforward ways to ensure you maintain control over your information:

  • In-App Deletion: If applicable, you can delete your account and associated data directly within the Application's account settings.
  • Manual Request: You can request complete data erasure at any time by reaching out via my Contact Page and including "Data Deletion Request" at the start of your message.

Upon receiving a deletion request, I will permanently remove your personal data from my active systems within 30 days, except where retention is strictly required by law.

5. GDPR Compliance & Your Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you have specific data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:

  • The right to access, update, or delete the information I have on you.
  • The right of rectification if your information is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • The right to object to my processing of your personal data.
  • The right of restriction to request that I restrict the processing of your personal information.
  • The right to data portability to receive a copy of your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format.

6. Data Security and Retention

I aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures. I keep your information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

7. Third-Party Services

My Applications may use third-party services (such as Google Play Services, hosting providers, or analytics platforms) that have their own privacy policies addressing how they handle such information. I recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies to understand their data practices.

The services below are used only by the apps named under each heading. Data these services collect goes to the provider, not to me, and the provider handles it under its own privacy policy.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Used by: Space Raider (iOS and Android).

Space Raider uses Google AdMob to show optional rewarded ads. An ad is shown only when you choose to watch one in return for an in-game reward. AdMob may collect device identifiers, advertising data (such as which ads you have seen), and product interaction data (such as taps on ads). Google may use this data to serve and measure ads.

Where the law requires it, such as in the UK and the European Economic Area, Space Raider asks for your consent with a consent prompt before AdMob uses your data to serve ads.

  • iOS: Space Raider does not ask for permission to track you through App Tracking Transparency. The app and AdMob therefore cannot use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).
  • Android: AdMob may use your device's advertising ID. You can reset or delete it in your device's Google or privacy settings.

Crash Reporting (Firebase Crashlytics)

Used by: Space Raider (iOS and Android).

If Space Raider crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report. The report contains a crash log, diagnostic and performance data (such as device model, operating system version, and app state at the time of the crash), and a Firebase installation identifier. I use these reports only to find and fix problems in the app. To find out more, see Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Game Services (Game Center & Google Play Games)

Used by: Space Raider: Game Center on iOS, Google Play Games on Android.

Signing in to Game Center or Google Play Games is optional. If you sign in, the app receives your player name, player ID, and avatar from Apple or Google. It uses them to show your achievements and leaderboard entries, and it sends your scores and achievements back to that service. Signing in is not required to play. Data Stored on Your Device

Space Raider stores your game progress and settings only on your device. They are not sent to me. Deleting the app removes them.

8. Updates To This Policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in my practices or legal obligations. I will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date below or through in-app notifications.
