Me, Myself & I

Published by

I was born in a small town called Market Harborough near Leicestershire, back in 1984 where I lived until the age of 5.  My parents used to travel a lot, along with most southern areas of England we lived in areas around Europe.

I spent the majority of my junior years, up until my mid-teens in north London (Crouch End, Hornsey). For now though, I live near Brighton.
I have always been interested in music and computers – from a very early age.
I finally managed to get my hands on a set of Technics 1200′s MK2 ‘s when I was 17. Then promptly went to a music college by the age of eighteen, where I studied the intricate detail behind the industry and how to produce music.

Once I was 20 I was playing in my local clubs and bars.
I had also began to produce my own Drum’n'Bass / Jungle tracks and began building up my online presence too by creating my first artist portfolio website.
By the time I was 21 I was working with a fellow Drum’n'Bass producer whom I’d previously met at music college, and we began to write tunes together for public release on a friend of his label.
After a good year of collaboration we decided to go our separate ways, as it was becoming increasingly difficult to travel to the studio due to us both moving around – and I was starting to see some of the fruits of my labour by networking out and on to the internet, as social networking was beginning to take over our lives!

At the age of 23 I had started to get more and more deeper into a previous secondary school passion of mine – programming. Having just started my own business from home in the form of a web hosting company I was sucked into more and more different computer languages as I was seemingly reinventing myself around what has now become something I would have never dreamed of being – a novice computer games developer!

I’m now 25 (at the date of this publishing), and for two years I’ve been studying the fine art of computer programming and reverse engineering. It’s been a sometimes mind numbing, but mostly self motivating dedication. I’ve built online communities, I’ve created over 200 sound tracks, and I’ve made my fair share selling multi-player hacks – but this year saw yet another more long-term route which, if completed, will see me set for the rest of my life…

I began on this route early this year, I applied to a college locally and was given a place to study a one year degree that once finished will grant me access into Brighton university to study a P.H.D in computer science. Granted I will be around 31 by the time I finish this endeavour. However, I will have a doctorate and minimum earning prospect of around 45k annually!
I also began a 2 year home study course in games development earlier this year, and coupling it with college it isn’t going too bad. However, it’s a lot more work. Once that course is complete and coupled with my other qualifications I hope to be no longer worried where the next penny is coming from! lol we’ll see…

Anyway I guess I’ve ranted on enough about my life, believe it or not I have heavily condensed it down – including the missing out of some harsh expirence. I think I’m doing you a favour on this one due to the length of this post compared to what it would have been if I had given you the whole run down. Thanks for reading, skimming or scanning, whatever!
